RECORD-HIGH DEMAND FOR NORDIC COUNTRIES
The Nordic countries experienced a record-breaking number of visitors this summer. Between June and August 2024, nearly 30 million overnight stays were recorded across the region. Of these, almost 10 million were booked for international guests, marking a significant increase compared to 2023. The majority of foreign guests came from Germany, the United States, and the Netherlands.
Norway saw the highest growth, with 17 million overnight stays, including 6 million from international visitors – exceeding pre-pandemic levels. Interestingly, visitors are venturing beyond the capitals. In Norway, the majestic western fjords attracted more visitors than Oslo. In Finland, the Arctic region saw a notable rise in tourism, while in Denmark, only a quarter of overnight stays occurred in Copenhagen.
Due to the soaring popularity of the Nordic countries, demand is outpacing supply, especially in regions like western Norway, Arctic Finland and in the capitals. We strongly recommend booking early to secure accommodations. For more information, please contact: marcella.Infantino@viahansa.com
