LITHUANIA TO HOST EU PRESIDENCY IN THE FIRST HALF OF 2027
On 1 January 2027, Lithuania will take over the Presidency of the European Union from the Republic of Ireland. The Presidency is a highly important event in Lithuania’s history, and there is no doubt that the country will put every effort into making it a success. At present, hotels – especially in Vilnius (and Kaunas) – have very high expectations for the first half of 2027.
As a result, we are currently either not receiving confirmations for the period January – June 2027 or are receiving confirmations only at significantly increased rates. We expect that only once the Lithuanian government publishes the schedule of official meetings during the Presidency will hotels be able to make final decisions regarding availability and pricing for this period.
At this stage, we do not know when the official schedule will be released; however, the general expectation is that it will be published sometime in the spring. At that point, we will reopen discussions with hotels regarding availability and prices for January – June 2027.
Until then, we will only be able to confirm bookings in Vilnius on a tentative basis. In some cases, it may later be necessary to reallocate groups to alternative dates, although we will do our utmost to avoid such situations. We recommend that all customers proceed with bookings as planned. However, it may be advisable to review the number of bookings for May and June 2027 and, where possible, consider placing some of these bookings in the second half of 2027.
We will keep you informed of any developments. For further information or clarification, please contact evija.snorina@viahansa.com or your responsible account manager.
