FABERGE MUSEUM IN ST. PETERBURG

FABERGE MUSEUM IN ST. PETERBURG
16.05.2014

St. Petersburg can boast a splendid new attraction. A new Fabergé Museum has opened at the Shuvalov Palace after seven-year-long restoration works. The painstakingly restored neo-classical palace on the Fontanka Embankment, built in the late 18th century and formerly owned by the Vorontsov and Naryshkin families, features a spectacular marble staircase and large ballroom as well as the main exhibition area divided into 12 spacious galleries. The Fabergé Museum is dedicated to the art of Peter Carl Fabergé, as well as his contemporaries and followers, and houses the celebrated Fabergé collection of the Link of Times Foundation. The collection with over 1500 pieces now surpasses even the collection of the Kremlin Armoury Museum. The original collection has been vastly increased to cover all areas of Fabergé’s activities: monumental silver, colourful Muscovite enamels, a multitude of cigarette cases, bell-pushes, frames, clocks and belt buckles in elegant transparent guilloché enamels. Via Hansa St. Petersburg is offering guided tours of the museum for FITs and groups. For more information, please contact: natalia.vinogradova@viahansa.com
