Hotels in the vibrant Latvian coastal resort of Jurmala by the Baltic Sea are looking for new customers. As relations between East and West have cooled over the last year and Russians have lost at least some of their traditionally strong interest in the Baltic countries, the Baltic resorts are looking at new markets. This goes for Jurmala in particular, which in addition has seen its two big summer events, the Russian-produced shows New Wave and Comedy Club, be relocated to resorts in Russia. So for hotels in Jurmala an era has come to an end. In time for this summer season, the resort’s main properties have made substantial investments in improving their standards and at the same time readjusting prices downwards in order to be better positioned to attract more guests from the Baltic countries, Scandinavia, Germany and Central Europe. Jurmala has an adequate choice of 3-to-5 star hotels for leisure travellers and conference and incentive planners and they offer some of the best spa facilities in the Baltics. Via Hansa has renewed its co-operation with Jurmala’s hotels and will be offering new packages there for city breaks, beach holidays, spa, conferences and more. The centre of Jurmala is located just 10km from Riga International Airport and 20km from the Latvian capital Riga, making access very easy and giving unique possibilities for exploring the Latvian capital while staying in this prime and pristine coastal resort.
