Via Hansa recently celebrated its 25th anniversary throwing a grand party in Riga. The invited guests enjoyed a festive reception and a special ballet performance, Juris Karlsson’s ANTONIJA#SILMACI, at the Latvian National Opera and Ballet, after which the party continued at Rooftop Restaurant & Bar Stage 22 at the Grand Hotel Kempinski Riga.

Latvia is experiencing a boom in hotel construction and a growing flow of investment in the development of hospitality and tourism projects. Despite the fears that the hotel market in Riga is close to saturation, several new hotels have been opened in the capital city last year.  Over the last ten years, the number of hotels has increased by 34.7%, while the number of tourists has risen by almost 50% and the total spending has more than doubled.

On January 12, the five-star design-focussed Grand Poet Hotel opened its doors to guests. The new property was established by Semarah Hotels, a Latvian hotel chain that also owns the Hotel Metropole in Riga and the Hotel Lielupe in Jurmala.

HOTEL KONVENTA SETA OPEN AGAIN

Beginning of November, the 3-star Hotel Konventa Seta has been added to the brand Rixwell Hotels and opened to the guests again. The hotel is situated in the Old Town of Riga in one of the most ancient quarters of the city. Rixwell Hotel Konventa Seta will gradually renovate the guest rooms and public spaces, and before the end of 2018 it is planned to convert it into a 4-star establishment.
