1. ESTONIAN HOTEL CHAIN HESTIA EXPANDING

The Estonian hotel chain Hestia Hotel Group started operating the four-star Hotel Radi un Draugi in the Old Town of Riga by June 10th. This is the second Hestia hotel in Riga - the Hestia Hotel Jugend is located in the city center.

2. NEW IBIS TALLINN CENTER HOTEL

By the beginning of June Tallinn hotel scene will welcome a new 3-star ibis Tallinn Center Hotel. The modern hotel will have 190 guest rooms including 95 standard double rooms, 65 standard twin rooms, 25 triple rooms and 5 premium rooms with double bed and sauna.  All rooms will be equipped with air-condition, smart TV, WIFI and private facilities with shower and hairdryer.

3. IBIS TALLINN CENTRE HOTEL

The new 3-star Ibis Tallinn Centre Hotel is scheduled to open in July 2019. It will be a modern hotel in a new 6-storey building. The hotel will have 190 guest rooms and a restaurant with 120 seats. Located in the city centre in walking distance to the Old Town it is a very welcome addition to the Tallinn hotel scene.

4. NEW SPA HOTEL IN TALLINN

A new four-star business-class spa and conference hotel, the Metropol Spa Hotel, opened its doors on July 15. Located right next to the three-star Metropol in the Rotermann Quarter, it has 137 modern and spacious rooms with a Scandinavian design and features an a la carte restaurant with 130 seats, an urban vintage restaurant with 160 seats.

5. CASTLE WAGENKULL SPA HOTEL

Estonia is increasingly offering unique accommodation in redeveloped castles and manors. Recently, Taagepera Castle was renovated and extended and will be reopened in July under the name Castle Wagenküll Spa Hotel. The mansion’s history goes back to the 16th century, while the current castle is one of the best-preserved examples of the art nouveau style in Estonia.

6. HESTIA HOTEL GROUP IS GROWING

Hestia Hotel Group, one of the largest hotel groups in Estonia, has been operating two new hotels in Tallinn since beginning of March – Hestia Hotel Barons and Hestia Hotel Maestro (formerly the Old Town Maestro). The group is now providing 800 hotel rooms, the biggest number of rooms in Estonia.

7. MAARJAMÄE PALACE REOPENS AFTER RENOVATION

In 2018, the Republic of Estonia celebrates its 100th birthday, and one of the highlights will definitely be visiting the new museum and history discovery centre at Maarjamäe Palace, which will be reopened after extensive renovation on February 1.

10. NEW HOTEL IN NARVA –JÕESUU

A newly built Liivarand SPA Hotel was opened beginning of September in Narva-Jõesuu, a resort town on the coast of the Gulf of Finland, only 12 kilometres from Narva. The hotel has totally 70 cozy guest rooms, free wi-fi, Italian style restaurant, conference centre and banquet room.

11. ESTONIAN EU-PRESIDENCY FOCUS ON DIGITAL EUROPE

Estonia has begun its 6-month term of chairing the Council of the EU on 1st of July 2017 and more than 260 international events will take place during the period, with the total combined attendance estimated at 25,000 delegates. Most conferences will be held in Tallinn and the busiest meeting months will be July, September and October.

12. VIHULA MANOR OBTAINS OFFICIAL FOUR STAR SUPERIOR RATING

13. CENTENNIAL HOTEL TALLINN

The Centennial Hotel Tallinn, a brand new four star concept hotel developed by Via Hansa, is scheduled to open on August 15th. The new hotel will have 64 standard rooms, 8 superior rooms and 11 ZEN deluxe rooms, all-day dining Restaurant “100” for 100 guests and three conference rooms with natural light for 25-75 delegates as well as Wi-Fi throughout the hotel.

14. NEW HOTEL IN TARTU

The new three-star Hotel Sophia has been opened in Tartu beginning of April. It belongs to Tartu Hotels group together with four-star Hotel London and three-star superior Hotel Pallas. The new hotel is located just 15 minutes drive to city centre, next to the shopping centre Lõunakeskus - the biggest shopping and recreational centre in South Estonia.

15. VON STACKELBERG HOTEL TALLINN EXPANDING IN 2017

The 4-star von Stackelberg Hotel Tallinn, developed from the historical city estate of German-Baltic Baron von Stackelberg dating back the 19th Century, is on schedule for opening a new wing with 10 ZEN deluxe rooms by September 1st 2017.

16. MARRIOTT INTERNATIONAL ENTERS ESTONIAN MARKET

Hotel Telegraaf in Tallinn has signed licence agreement with the world’s largest hotel company Marriott International. According to the agreement, Telegraaf will be Marriott’s first hotel partner in Estonia and become a part of Autograph Collection Hotels, Marriott’s growing portfolio of exceptional one of-a-kind-hotels within the Marriott International portfolio of 30 distinct brands.

18. THE OPENING OF THE ESTONIAN NATIONAL MUSEUM

Beginning of October Estonia finally saw the grand opening of the Estonian National Museum (ENM). The new museum is located in the university city and cultural capital of Estonia –Tartu. It is a new modern 350-metre-long glass building built on the edge of the city on an abandoned Soviet airfield.

19. ESTONIA TO PRESIDE OVER EU IN 2017

As a result of Brexit, the UK will not as planned take over the presidency of the European Union on July 1, 2017, and the honour has instead been offered to Estonia. The Estonian capital Tallinn, already suffering from a dramatic lack of hotel capacity, will become even more complicated in 2017.

20. New hotels in Tartu

The hotel scene in the university town Tartu is changing this summer when the brand new and stylish superior four-star Hotel Lydia opens on June 30. The hotel got its name after a famous Estonian poet Lydia Koidula. It is located in the very heart of the city on the slopes of Toomemägi Hill just behind Tartu Town Hall Square.
