COPENHAGEN HOTELS’ SCENE IMPROVING
26.06.2019

Recognized by Lonely Planet as the number one city to visit in 2019, Copenhagen is preparing to welcome even more visitors. Existing hotels are being renovated, well established hotel chains are expanding their fleet and others are making their first appearances in Denmark. Over the next four years more than 10,000 new rooms will be added to the already existing 21,000 rooms. Last summer the 370-room urban four-star Scandic Kødbyen has been opened in the old meatpacking district of Copenhagen and in December the Dutch chain CitizenM opened their doors to a modern 238-room hotel in the City Hall Square. The beginning of 2019 brought the addition of the new 156-room Brøchner Hotel Ottilia located in the old Carlsberg City District, reflecting the history of the old brewery. In March Marriott opened the contemporary and affordable three-star Hotel Moxy located in the up-and-coming neighborhood of Sydhavnen. This lifestyle hotel offers 226 guest rooms and is truly an energetic alternative to the typical hotel experience. By August 2019 the refurbished four-star Scandic Falkoner Hotel with 334 guest rooms will offer their guests a stay in the charming theatre district. The future brings the anticipated additions of Bryggen Guldsmeden  - 200 new rooms with a sustainability prerequisite. Villa Copenhagen scheduled to open in 2020 where the old Post Office headquarters used to dwell. And by June 2021 the German hotel chain 25hoursHotels will launch 243 rooms and 6 hotel apartments in the very heart of the city.
